Breast Feeding!!!

I love Baby Marcus expression so much during burp burp time.. :) so cute!!!!

hmm.. I was told to not to think about formula milk.. this called "psycho" technique... so that your brain will produce the signal so we can easily successfully breast feed the baby... However, this is really correct.. But, my friend never told me is ok to mixed with formula milk for the first few days if baby is hungry... I almost get depression because of I have not enough milk for my baby in the second day night after delivery...

Below are the breast feeding experience I have to share with all future mama who want to successfully breast feed their babies.. as a reference only!!! but please don't compare.. because everybody might be vary.. but I think it is quite crucial on certain points for successful breast feeding for your baby!!!

Day 1 - We told the nurse/midwife that we want to fully breast feed our baby before delivery... so once after delivery and the baby is wrapped.. the nurse ask me whether I want to breast feed my baby first before sending to nursery and doctor for check up... This was the mistake I made.. since I have to stay at the labor room for 1 hour for monitoring.. I should have asked them to left the baby with me so and I start to learn how to breast feed my baby and to stimulate the production for my milk.. so, in other words, I asked the nurse to send my baby to doctor for check out first... so around 3pm something my baby checking is done.. so he was sent back to me for breast feeding.. the nurse come and teach me how to breast feed and teach me how to let the baby to latches on the nipple correctly so baby can start get feeds.. surprisingly, baby Marcus is very good on latching.. and he start sucking immediately.. and non-stop.. I was so happy.. and even take a photo of he sucking and MMS it to his father... but, I am actually not sure whether there is anything out from my breast or not.. and I have doubts.. but he sleep nicely and not crying.. so from there onwards.. my baby stay with me for quite sometimes.. but after that he was sleeping and even I gentlely strokes his cheek and he got no reaction at all... so we asked the nurse to send back to nursery for bath and cleaning.. after that the baby was sent back to me again for breast feed.. everytime they sent me the baby.. the nurse will teach me how to get him to latch and they will help to get it latch before they left my ward... but at night the baby is sleeping next to me.. I can't get seem to sleep even he is sleeping.. so at the late mid night we asked the nursery to bring back the baby.. so that at least I can have a rest... they will sent my baby to me everyt 2-3 hours for me to breast feed my baby.. so basically he was fully on breast feed on day 1...

Day 2 & 3- In the morning.. it was still nursery sent him to me and I tried to breast feed.. my nipple getting very pain.. coz baby sucks "really hard" .. so it was like a bit sore nipple problems.. but I still feel very love to give my baby breast feed.. so I "tahan" the pain... after discharge from hospital and we get home.. I tried very now and then to let my baby to suck.. however, again not sure whether they is any milk or not.. so, I used a Madela Manual Breast Pump and pump try to pump.. yes.. they is very small amount of milk.. so I think it should be alright and continuously to breast feed for every chance I have.. but, start from 6pm onwards.. It was like I was giving him to sucks and until mid night 12am something.. he still want to sucks.. I gave him and give all my patient to let him sucks.. although I was really in great pain when he sucks on it.. But, until 2am in the morning.. he sucks and have some tiny crying sound out and then he keep sucking.. so my confinement lady said maybe because he is hungry and I don't have enough milk supply yet.. when I hear his tiny crying sound.. my heart was squeezed!!!! and my tears drops automatically.. and I don't know what should I do.. since from the beginning, I was told not to think about formula milk.. so we never buy or survey what formula milk we should give to our baby... I was on dilemma... then my confinement lady suggest me to give me some formula milk.. then I recalled there is a sample milk powder given from my Gyane's clinic.. so, I also don't know what to do and my baby is crying softly.. so I told my confinement lady to make some formula milk and I told her where is the location of the sample milk powder.. so after feeding him with formula milk he is sleeping nicely again.. sigh!!! I was depressed!!! I am not a good mummy why I don't have enough milk supply??? but there after I still give him my breast feed for one hour or more.. until he is still crying only I asked my confinement lady to make some formula milk for him.. But, I was really thankful to GOD!!! I've a very patient baby, even he is hungry.. he still "Ying chow/应酬"me for hours for sucking for "nothing"... baby Marcus.. mama really luv you oh!!! my nipple is still in great pains... but, I still insist to my confinement lady I want to breast feed!!! by day 3, my breast finally look bigger and seem like is producing milk already... and I have the feeling of pain on my breast!! I was happy about this...

Day 4 - Only mixed 1 (one) oz of formula milk for the day!!! rest are all on my breast feed!!! I am so happy about it.. however, problems cames, afternoon I can't take any nap.. even can't sleep side way on the bed.. my breast was on great pain... I forgot we need to massage the breast to get the stuck ducts to flow.. so from afternoon onward other than breast feed my baby.. i was with my Madela Manual Pump.. and I pump the whole day... and massage hard hard "really kuat" on the place where I feel pain.... after almost one day massage and pumping.. at the evening finally the breast is a bit softer and I was able to sleep side way.. but another problems cane, after dinner I start to get fever.. so I get my dada to go to Caring pharmacy to buy a ear thermometer since we also need one for our baby... so after he bought back home.. I was having fever at 37.7C.. then I was worry again.. not sure if I ate the panadol then can I still breast feed my baby.. or if I was sick.. can I still breast feed??? so these questions came into my mind.. then I start to call and sent sms to a few friends who has successfully breast feed.. and the answer is YES.. even mummy is sick and on medication but still breast feed the baby.. so I feel released and ate two panadol and has a sleep for two hours.. when I wake up... i was sweating like hell and my fever is gone.. THANKS GOD!!!!

Day 5 - This morning I can't tahan already.. so I called Fabolousmom.com and bought the "Mini Madela electric breast pump" and they delivered it to me at 12pm something!!! They are my savior!!! Due to I have Malay traditional massage and I don't have enough breast milk that I have pump out.. so today there is a mix of 1.5 0z of formula milk... and I start to have more milk supply.. and when I pump out.. there is 1-1.5oz.. so I feel excited and every hour I do pump and I used the maximum valve for the Manual Madela Breast Pump.. so it is faster and I can see the milk came out and flows... then in the evening I took a nap... after I wake up.. I realized my right hand is totally "cacat" I can't even wake up with my body (right hand is use to pull in the out the breast pump).. the hand was is great pain and no energy at all from the wrist up to the shoulder... and my left hand pain between and thumb and the first finger (left hand use to hold the bottle of the pump)... so I can say Madela Manual breast pump is very effective but very tiring in using and you must be an "athlete" in order to use this pump!!!! haha... but at night I am not able to breast feed directly but I feel full and pain every two hours.. need to pump out the milk supply.. at 3am & 5am, I woke up and walk to my hubby.. wake him up and want him to help me to pump the milk..

Day 6 - GREAT NEWS!!! TODAY IS TOTAL BREAST FEEDING ALREADY!!! I was happy to see the Mak Cik Norliza who massage for me.. I told her "Mak Cik.. my both hand is cacat!!" the Mak Cik laughed and asked why.. then I told her the reason.. so, I asked her to help me massage it.. when Mak Cik Massage I was shouting like no body business.. it is really damn pain.. but, after massage and I took a one hour nap.. then I wake up.. I feel my right hand is much released and I can have energy to do something... It is really thankful to Mak Cik lah!!! Mak Cik.. Muaks!!!

Day 7 - Today not only is total breast milk feeding.. and I start to have extra milk in the fridge!!!

Day 8 - More and more supply.. every one hour I will pump out my milk.. :) Yipee!!! Consider I am successful in my breast feeding already!!! And now.. I was thinking if can I will offer him my breast every time he want milk.. so for those expressed milk I want to keep it frozen and ask my babysitter to feed him later on!! Hope I can have more and more supply and make my wish come true...

Thus, phycho technique really works!!!

hi yvonne, so glad and happy to hear that u got so strong determination in breast feeding..(better than me..haha..)breast milk is the BEST gift in world for your baby. i only able to let my baby latch on correctly after 10days later.Eventhough I do not enough breast milk for my boy but i still gave him breast milk until he reached seventh mth old.

I have experienced the same situation like you before but please take it easy and don strees yourself too much during confinement because this two mth you need to take gd care of your self and be a happy mummy. u need to have a gd body to take gd care of your baby..ask ur hubby to take gd care of you also..haha

Your brain is the main section to stimulate your breast to produce more milk so you must have powerful thinking that you have a lots..a lots of MILK for your lovely baby then you will have it. You must give your baby suck as frequent as possible to keep your breast produce milk.I read some book mentioned that the peak hour of milk producing is between 4-5am which you can try and wake you baby up to latch on or pump out.

be a new mummy/parent not so easy.. we need to learn along the way and it's a new challenging life to you n ur hubby. No matter what happen, please be optimistic and talk to your hubby or your closed friend. Please do not keep to yourself. :)

Happy mummy will have a happy baby and happy family...

Once again congratulation to you and welcome to motherhood club.

Welcome baby Marcus to this wonderful world and have a lovely mummy n daddy.

Be happy :)

Cheers,
